Learning through Loggerheads is a student conservation experience. We offer a variety of programs created to combine a sea turtle nest management project with a hands-on education program for rural students. Through their participation in field work, students learn about threatened species conservation and apply scientific principles taught in the classroom to real world experiences.
We are a non-profit corporation with a 501(c)3 designation. Our active board is composed of educational professionals and those committed to furthering education about the environment.
Learning through Loggerheads is the result of the collaboration of two women, Meg Hoyle and Susan Ford, both of whom were inspired by their sense of community to create this opportunity to give back to Edisto and Botany Islands.
