Education Loggerhead

LtL’s educational endeavors are expanding this year. After recognizing that not all rural school students can participate outside the classroom, LtL decided to bring the loggerhead turtle project to the classroom. An educational handbook is being developed with a CD filled with classroom projects in order to cultivate students’ interest in a science-related career. All materials are developed by qualified education staff. Education Loggerhead fulfills the requirements and supports the curricula of the State of South Carolina.

Additionally, Education Loggerhead includes two loan boxes packed with objects for the students to study, explore and touch. The boxes are designed for busy teachers with little time to research special projects. The benefit of learning with objects has been dramatically demonstrated. Hands-on learning can still be accomplished without leaving the classroom. The loan boxes are based around the life cycle and conservation of the loggerhead turtle. Handling objects provides a creative pathway for students of all abilities within the school system. LtL maintains a close relationship with those teachers participating in Education Loggerhead, not only to provide support but to ensure we deliver what teachers need.
